Websites for IT, network and security firms

You solve complicated problems for people who would rather not hear about the complicated part. Your website has exactly the same job.

Why it matters in your trade

Everyone in your market sounds identical.

Open five IT support websites and you will read the same words on all of them: proactive, scalable, tailored, trusted partner. The person doing the comparing is usually an owner or an office manager, not a technologist, and they finish the exercise no clearer than when they started.

That is a gap you can walk straight through, simply by explaining what you do in language a customer would use, and being specific where everyone else is vague.

What you actually get

What an IT and security website has to do.

Plain English, without dumbing down

Say what breaks, what you do about it, how fast, and what it costs to have you on hand. Technical buyers respect clarity too. Nobody has ever been lost by a supplier who was easy to understand.

Trust made visible

Accreditations, certifications, response times you will actually commit to, and named clients where you are allowed to name them. In a market where anyone can claim anything, evidence is the differentiator.

Better-qualified enquiries

When the site explains your model properly, including who you are not for, the enquiries you get are from businesses of roughly the right size with roughly the right expectations. Your sales time stops being spent on education.

What it costs

Website projects start from £3k.

Most land between £5k and £9k depending on how much the site has to do. You get the exact number before anyone starts work. And if you are just getting going, say so, there is a sensible way to start smaller.

Questions

What IT, network and security firms ask us.

How technical should the website be?

Pitch the main pages at the person signing the contract, and let the technical depth live one level down for the people who want it. A useful test: if your best client’s office manager cannot tell what you do from the homepage, it is too technical, no matter how accurate it is.

Do accreditations actually matter to customers?

To some, enormously. Cyber Essentials, ISO certifications and vendor partnerships are often a hard requirement for anyone in a regulated sector or bidding for public work. To everyone else they are a trust signal that costs you nothing to display, so show them, just do not make them the headline.

Should we publish case studies if clients want confidentiality?

Yes, anonymised. "A 60-seat accountancy practice in South Yorkshire" carries most of the credibility of a name, and the detail of the problem and the outcome is what persuades anyway. Always get sign-off before you publish either version.
