Websites for sports and leisure venues

An empty court earns nothing. The website’s job is to fill it at eleven at night, without anyone answering the phone.

Why it matters in your trade

Booking is an impulse. Treat it like one.

Someone decides on Tuesday evening that they fancy a game on Thursday. They are on their phone, they have about a minute of patience, and there are two other venues within a reasonable drive. If booking takes longer than that minute, they do not ring you in the morning. They book somewhere else.

Every slot you do not sell is gone permanently. Unlike stock, you cannot sell Thursday’s court on Friday.

What you actually get

What a sports venue website has to do.

Booking that survives a phone

Live availability, a few taps, paid, confirmed. No account creation, no PDF timetable, no "call us to check". This one thing usually moves the numbers more than everything else put together.

Memberships sold, not just explained

Most venue sites describe membership and then leave people to work out the next step. Show what it costs, what it gets them, how much they would save at their usual rate, and let them join there and then.

Filling the quiet hours

Weekday mornings and late evenings are where the margin is. Being visible to people searching to play this week, plus a nudge to your existing players, is what turns dead slots into revenue.

What it costs

Website projects start from £3k.

Most land between £5k and £9k depending on how much the site has to do. You get the exact number before anyone starts work. And if you are just getting going, say so, there is a sensible way to start smaller.

Questions

What sports and leisure venues ask us.

We already use a booking system. Can it connect to the website?

Almost always, yes. We would rather integrate with the system you and your members already know than force a migration you did not ask for. The aim is that the booking feels like part of your site instead of a jarring hop to somewhere that looks nothing like you.

Should the site push memberships or casual bookings?

Both, but down separate paths. A casual player wants a court on Thursday and nothing else. A prospective member wants to know cost, commitment and whether there are people at their level. Trying to serve both with one page tends to serve neither.

Can we promote coaching, leagues and events too?

Yes, and they are usually underused. Leagues and coaching build the habit that turns a casual booker into a regular, and events fill slots that would otherwise sit empty. They just need to be bookable in the same few taps as a court.
