Websites for innovative products

You have made something genuinely new. The catch is that nobody is searching for it, because they do not yet know it exists.

Why it matters in your trade

Nobody searches for a thing they have never heard of.

Every other business on this site has the same job: get found by people already looking. You have the opposite problem. There is no queue of people typing your product into Google, because until they see it they do not know it is possible.

So the website is not a shop window. It is the explanation. It has to take somebody from never having heard of the category to understanding why the old way was a compromise, and it usually has to do that for several very different audiences at once.

What you actually get

What a product innovator website has to do.

The idea, landed in one screen

Before any specification, any pricing and any form, somebody has to grasp what this is and why it matters. Get that wrong and nothing further down the page gets read at all.

One product, several buyers

A venue owner is doing a return-on-investment calculation. A coach wants to know it will improve their teaching. They need different pages, different proof and different language, without splintering the brand.

Proof that carries the claim

A new category is met with reasonable scepticism. Demonstrations, real installations, the names of people who already trust it, and honest technical detail do more than any amount of adjectives.

What it costs

Website projects start from £3k.

Most land between £5k and £9k depending on how much the site has to do. You get the exact number before anyone starts work. And if you are just getting going, say so, there is a sensible way to start smaller.

Questions

What product innovators ask us.

There is no search volume for what we sell. Is SEO pointless?

Not pointless, just aimed differently. You will not rank for a term nobody types, so you go after the problem instead of the product. People do search for the frustration your product solves, and they search for the category next door. That is where you meet them.

Should we sell direct on the site or generate enquiries?

It depends on the price and how much explaining is involved. High-value or installed products almost always do better with a strong enquiry route and a real conversation. We would rather build the thing that suits the sale than the thing that sounds more impressive.

We sell internationally. Does that change the build?

It changes the hosting, the speed strategy, the currency and units, and quite often the tone. It also means people arrive in their second language, so plain sentences beat clever ones. None of it is difficult, but it is much cheaper to plan for than to retrofit.

Our product keeps developing. Will the site keep up?

It should. New models, new use cases and new evidence arrive constantly with this kind of business, so the site is built for you to add them without ringing us. That is normal for us anyway, and here it matters more than usual.
