Flooring & carpets · Norwich
From a couple of leads a month to one most days
Lee and Simon already had a website. What they did not have was a website that brought them work.

The client
A good shop with a quiet website.
S&L Carpets are a Norwich flooring retailer with a showroom, a fitting team and a solid local reputation. None of which was reaching the people searching for flooring in their area.
This is the most common shape of problem we see. The business is genuinely good. The website is the weakest thing about it, and because nobody was measuring, nobody knew how much that was costing.
The challenge
The website was a brochure, not a salesperson.
Almost nobody walks past a flooring shop and decides to recarpet the house. They search, they shortlist three or four local options, then they visit one. If you are not in that shortlist, the enquiry is not lost, it has simply gone to whoever was.
The old site was not competing for those searches, and for the people who did land on it, the route to actually asking for a quote was not obvious enough to follow.
What we did
Four things, in this order.
-
01
Built it around the searches that matter
The site was restructured around what people in Norwich actually type when they want flooring, rather than around how the business thinks about its own product range.
-
02
Made the free measure the one clear action
Every page points at the same low-commitment next step. It is easy to say yes to, it gets you into the customer’s house, and in this trade the measure is where the sale really happens.
-
03
Made it properly fast
Speed keeps visitors around and keeps search engines happy. On a site where most visitors arrive on a phone, this is not a technical nicety.
-
04
Tracked every enquiry
So the result could actually be measured rather than guessed at. This is the part most agencies skip, and it is the only reason there is a number at the top of this page.
The result
The design was the visible part. The result was the point.
Lee and Simon went from a handful of website enquiries a month to roughly one a day. Same business, same market, same team. The only thing that changed was the site and how it was found.
It is worth being clear about what that does and does not prove. This was a business with a real showroom, real reviews and a genuine local reputation to build on. The website unlocked demand that was already there. It did not conjure it.
“We were getting 2–3 leads through our website a month. Now, pretty much at least one a day!”

Questions
The fair questions to ask about this.
Would this work for my business?
It depends far more on your market than on your website. S&L Carpets sell something people search for locally, with a decent value per job and a showroom to send people to. If that describes you, the same approach usually applies. If your customers find you a completely different way, we would tell you that rather than sell you the same thing.
How long did it take to see the change?
The conversion side, meaning more of the visitors who arrive getting in touch, tends to show up almost immediately. The search side builds over months. The compounding is what turns a good month into a new normal.
